Opportunities for Growth, Service, and Fellowship Throughout Lent and Beyond
Lent
During this Lenten season, families are encouraged to pick up or print a Lenten Family Bingo card. These cards are designed to help kids enter the season of Lent at a developmentally appropriate level, emphasizing that Lent is about coming closer to God. The bingo cards have 6 different categories of actions families can take.
- Learn: Biblical or Liturgical knowledge
- Pray: Specific ways to pray
- Make: Using creativity to connect with spirituality
- Give: Service as a way to come closer to God
- Give Thanks: Remembering to stop and be thankful
- Fast: Age-appropriate ways to give up one thing for one day in order to focus more on God.
Families are invited to complete their bingo cards however they would like during Lent, including replacing squares with different activities if desired. For every “bingo” you achieve as a family, send a picture of your card to for a small surprise, with a maximum of 4 prizes. If you complete your card, send a photo to Melody for an extra special Easter surprise!
If you would like additional resources for observing the Lenten season with your family, please reach out to Melody.
Spring
The children’s ministry continues to be busy and exciting! Our annual children’s service will be on March 16. We invite all children and families to come out for this service, taking place at both 9:30 and 11:00am. There will be multiple ways for children to participate! In addition, March 16 marks the final week of the Upper Elementary Food Drive for Grove. When you come to the service, please bring a donation of canned/shelf-stable food!
During the Lenten season, there are several ways for children and families to engage in growing closer to God.
- Families are invited to pick up and complete a Family Lenten Bingo Card. Copies are available in the church Welcome Center, or downloadable here.
- Children will enjoy a special Sunday School unit focused on Lent. All children PreK-5th grade will have the opportunity to hear about the Easter story with Godly Play stories and special art projects that will be hung up in the church for the congregation to enjoy on Easter morning. Because the Godly Play stories and art projects are sequential, we strongly encourage all families to come weekly between the weeks of March 23 and April 13!
- Our second annual Family Good Friday service will also be happening on April 18 at 5pm. We encourage all to come out for this family Tenebrae service.

As we prepare for the summer and the 2025-2026 school year, more volunteers for children’s ministry are needed. Please contact Melody if you are interested in helping in any way. There are opportunities for all ages and commitment levels, from help with just one activity a year to teaching Sunday school every week. It is only with the support of the entire church that our children’s ministry can continue to grow and thrive!
