Save the Date: York River State Park Picnic and Hiking Tour
Date and time: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 10 am -3:00 pm
Come join the picnic potluck sponsored by the Earth Care committee to personally enjoy God’s bounty of living water that is the York River. This is a family-friendly event that will include a ranger talk and tour of the Living Shoreline project in the park. Stay and take advantage of kayaking opportunities in the marshes. The park is designated as a Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve where freshwater and saltwater meet, developing a unique ecosystem in tidewater Virginia. Sign-up will be coming in April.

Attend the annual VIMS open house–a fun-filled and educational event for the whole family! The program features exhibits, children's activities, seining in the York River, tours, a seafood cooking demonstration, mini-lectures, and more.
