Present Word (a.k.a. Alpha) Adult Sunday School Fall Curriculum
During the months of September, October, and November 2024, our class will be following a study entitled "Worship in the Covenant Community." Using varied texts from the Hebrew Scriptures, in September the study topics will follow the theme, "Leaders Set Worship Example." Our first lesson shows an early form of worship as "Abram builds an altar at Mamre," and the unit will end by looking at how "Josiah celebrates the Passover.
The October and November units both look at worship in the Old Testament by considering Hebrew songs of worship, most coming from the "Hebrew Hymnbook" which is now found in our Bibles as the Book of Psalms.
Through this Fall Study, we will see how our own worship practices come directly from God's Word.
Of course, we invite and encourage everyone to join us for any or all of these sessions. We meet Sundays at 9:30 in room 011 on the lower level of WPC. We use our denomination’s curriculum called The Present Word. The class is led by a rotating team who emphasize discussion over lecture, always with the goal of applying these Bible texts to our daily lives.
Address any questions about the class to Pete Hoyle, whose contact information is in the Church Directory. Finally, thanks to the Deacons’ provision of the Coffee Fellowship in Stevenson Hall, we always note, "Coffee is available."
