This past January, I attended my last residency with the Soul of Leadership course sponsored by Shalem Institute of Spiritual Formation. Over the last 18 months, we met regularly each month and met in person four times. Our time together has been transformative in multiple ways. We companioned with one another as we worked through our different leadership scenarios, we held one another as we faced personal hardships, and we marveled as our hearts and minds opened to leading with our souls grounded in the Divine’s wisdom.
Our last residency focused on how we can continue to nurture and sustain our “soul leadership.” Though our group is made up of different faiths, we examined how spiritual practices are the way we can stay connected to Divine wisdom and nurture our relationship with God. Our book list included Alters in the World by Barbara Brown Taylor, The Monastery of the Heart by Joan Chisttister, Desmond Tutu, A Spiritual Biography by Michael Battle, and Soul Feast by Majorie Thompson. All of these books are outstanding. I am especially excited about Soul Feast. The author, Majorie Thompson, helps us weave spiritual practices into our lives in practical and realistic ways. I want to share her wisdom through a seven-week class on Soul Feast, starting April 25. Please join me as we continue the Easter journey to discover spiritual practices that will daily awaken us to the Divine within us, within others, and around us.
